Even though Scott calls out one of his own books in the top five "most important C++ books ever" and himself as one of the top five "most imporant C++ people ever," an independent observer would probably agree: he’s made huge contributions to the industry. I’ve met Scott a couple times to discuss performance issues and game development. One of his great talents is an ability to synthesize information and then present it to programmers in bite-size nuggets. He also has a wicked sense of wry humor and a great knack for effective presentations (pun intented). If you ever get the chance to see him give a talk — don’t miss it!
